Day #1 was Stanley Mission to Sucker River to La Ronge on what will be part of this year's Challenge trail. The first 11 km were through some portages to get to Lac la Ronge. Then it was all on the lake ice. Total distance for day #1 was 82 km or 51 miles. It was minus 36 C when we started at Stanley, but there was zero wind so things were fine.
On Day #2, it was warmer. Minus 21. We started from Highway 165 (the Creighton cut across) about 30 km south of La Ronge to have enough time to run the new Challenge trail (or a part of it) leading to Weyakwin. We did 18 km down Highway 2, then it was through the bush and lakes. Total distance would be very close to 80 km or 50 miles.
